Dr. Achleitner was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He trained at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Toronto and obtained his medical degree in 1990. Dr. Achleitner then completed a rotating internship at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. Following his internship, Dr. Achleitner completed a four year residency in Orthopedic Surgery at McMaster University where he received rigorous training in general orthopedics. Following his residency, Dr. Achleitner completed a one year fellowship in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine. After completing his training in November of 1996, Dr. Achleitner and his wife, Christina, moved to the Rio Grande Valley where they have lived and worked ever since.
Dr. Achleitner is a general orthopedic surgeon who is Board Certified by The American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and is also a Fellow of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He has special skills in arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder, as well as total joint replacement, in addition to management of sports and work related injuries. He will be performing surgery at Brownsville Medical Center, Valley Regional Medical Center, as well as Brownsville Surgical Hospital. Dr. Achleitner will be accepting patients with medicaid, medicare, most private insurance plans, as well as workman's compensation and liability insurance.
New patients will be accepted at his new office at 535 Paredes Line Road.
